Before You Start:

Ensure you have a strong internet connection.

Have your Driver's License or Passport ready.

Have your mobile phone ready for 2-factor authentication.

Instructions:

  • Go to IRS.gov and click Sign In.

  • Select Individual – Sign in to Online Account.

  • Log in with ID.me.

Note: If you do not have an ID.me account, you will be prompted to create one using your email and phone number.

  • Once logged in, select Enroll in the IP PIN Program.

  • Opt-in for future years (avoid selecting "current year only").

  • For Married Couples: Repeat this process for your spouse using their own login.

Already have an IP PIN? The IRS generates a new code every year.

To find this year's code:

  • Log into your IRS Online Account.

  • Click Identity Protection PIN on the left-hand menu.
